How to get the correct fit: 

You must put on whatever you want to wear under this vest and please use a cloth tape to measure the circumference of your chest. If the measurement is an even number add 2 to get the next even number. If the number you get is an odd number add 1 to get the next even number. The general rule is order the next even number. If the measurement is 32 order 34. If the measurement you get is 37, order size 38. (If your belly is bigger than your chest then go by belly measurement). 

These run small so the general rule is to order at least 1" or 2" bigger than your chest or belly measurement.
